“Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.”
2 Corinthians 7:1
May you spend time today reflecting on growing in faithfulness to God. Working purposely toward holiness.
“Therefore repent and turn back, so that your sins may be wiped out,”
The Bible calls us to repent of our sins. If we truly repent God will forgive our sins. However, repentance is more then asking for forgiveness, repentance is defined as being regretful or remorseful in a sincere manner.
““Therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and dearly loved, put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience,” Colossians 3:12
A lot can be said about us based on how we treat others. Scripture calls Christians to a specific way of conduct. We are to be kind, humble, not rash or angry spirited, showing gentle patience.
“keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting expectantly for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ for eternal life.” Jude 1:21 CSB
Christians can rest in the knowledge that they are secure in the Love of Christ who has prepared the way for them. This knowledge provides peace and comfort as we wait with excitement the promises that are to come.
“This is love: that we walk according to his commands. This is the command as you have heard it from the beginning: that you walk in love.”
2 John 1:6 CSB
As followers of Christ we demonstrate our love through faithful obedience to the will of God. The will of God is for us to walk in Love. When we walk in love everything else will fall into place.
“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:7 CSB
The Christian walk can be difficult. As long as we are in a fallen world the temptations of sin will remain. However, we have a God that equips us spiritually and protects our hearts and minds when we journey with him. Spending time in prayer and scripture study is paramount for all believers to build a better understanding of how to walk with God.
He has told you men what is good and what it is the Lord requires of you: Only to act justly, to love faithfulness, and to walk humbly with your God
To walk with God is to live your life in accordance to His will. We are to love and show others the love of Christ. This can be difficult at times after all we are still in a fallen world and subject to sinful actions. However, we only fail when we do not learn from our actions and grow in our faith. Scripture is clear about how we are to interact with the world around us, we are to act justly and love faithfulness, and be humble in our walking with God.
