When meditating, begin by finding a quiet, peaceful place where you can focus on Scripture for a time. Then, read the passage slowly and carefully, focusing on the key words and imagery. Afterward, clear your mind, relax, and contemplate the meaning of the passage. Resist the temptation to rush through this step, as it’s important to take your time and pay attention to the text.

One valuable exercise is to form questions based on the passage and ask yourself how it applies to your life. This could be anything from how the passage relates to personal values and relationships, or how it calls you to action within your community and beyond.

The next step is to just sit in silence, offering a prayer of thanksgiving or gratitude for God’s word and His presence in your life. This can also be a time to share any concerns or worries you may have, as well as offer a petition for God’s help in addressing them.

Finally, once your meditative time is complete, spend a few moments expressing gratitude for the time spent and for God’s perfect truth that is beyond our full understanding.
